Constipation is one of the most common digestive problems for babies. Constipation can look different for every baby but generally presents as infrequent bowel movements, bowel movements that are hard, dry and/or dark in colour, and difficulty passing bowel movements.

Constipation is more common in formula-fed babies and babies born via C-section. It can also occur when you first introduce solids into a baby’s diet.

In this episode, I discuss:
  • The common causes of constipation in babies including:
    • Dietary links;
    • Genetics;
    • Behavioural connection.
  • The link between gut dysbiosis and constipation;
  • Natural ways to relieve constipation in babies, with different approaches for formula-fed versus breastfed babies, and babies on solids;
  • Information on prebiotics including our favourite and highly recommended prebiotic supplement;
  • Plus the specific probiotic strain you want to include if your baby is experiencing constipation.
When it comes to constipation in babies, gut health is key.
