We have recently returned from a 4 week family holiday to Canada, travelling with our two teenagers, so in this week’s episode, I am sharing the process we took to plan this overseas family adventure. Taking our kids to Canada has been on our bucket list for a while, as my husband and I have spent a lot of time backpacking through Canada in our early 20s (our son is even named after one of our favourite towns in Canada.. that’s how much we love the country.)

We have spent time travelling around Australia as a family when the kids were younger, however, we were yet to do a long-haul overseas trip as a family of four! Next week I’ll be sharing all the lessons we learned travelling together and travelling with teenagers.. so stay tuned for Part 2!

In this episode, I cover:

  • How we have been able to budget for this trip;
  • Why we decided to go to Canada;
  • My tips for planning a family holiday;
  • Making compromises when travelling with family and adjusting your itinerary to suit your family;
  • How to involve your kids in the planning of your holiday;
  • Staying in tune with your body while travelling;
  • My strategies to support jet lag with long-haul flights;
  • How to boost your kids’ immune system to avoid flight germs.
